Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Early hockey imagery is scarce, especially large displayable publication covers. We have 13 different examples for your consideration, dating from 1896 to the mid-1950s. Ranging in size from roughly 7” x 10” to 10 ½” x 16”, included are Leslie’s, The Saturday Evening Post (Leyendecker), Street & Smith’s Sport Story, The Open Road for Boys, Harper’s Round Table, Collier’s and Tip Top Weekly (2). There is also a “Speed on Ice” colouring book from the mid-1950s, a “Strong and Steady” hardcover book and a pair of “Sport Series” notepads with similar images. There is also a scribbler in rough shape with an image of the Toronto Granites hockey team. Most remain in displayable condition with expected handling flaws, along with some toning, staining, light creasing and edge/corner wear. There is also some mold along the right edge of the Saturday Evening Post cover. Also included is a rough copy of Judge magazine from 1891 with no hockey content.
