The best team during the inaugural season of the WHA in 1972-73, the New England Whalers finished first overall with 94 points, steamrolling over all competition throughout the playoffs to command the first Avco Cup championship. We have a 1972-73 New England Whalers Avco Cup championship salesman’s sample ring. Size 10 ½” with an approx. weight of 38 grams, a silver coloured Whalers logo with inserted zirconias sits atop the face, encompassed by “WHA Champions” and “1973”. The left shank features a Whalers logo with “Kelley” above and “Coach" below, while the right features a WHA logo with an image of the Avco Cup and “World Champions”. The inner band has “Balfour 10K” engraved along with a sample number of "SA125419-8".
Moderate wear is present along the band including scratches, with some additional wear along edges and over each shank. The ring will come in a Balfour box.
