Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Selected in both the NHL and WHA drafts in 1974, Clark Gilles would spend a dozen seasons with the New York Islanders, winning an amazing 4 Stanley Cups along the way. We have an Islanders jersey worn by the Moose Jaw native during his rookie season of 1974-75, and it hails from his personal collection. A Rawlings tie-down durene model, the original Long Island team crest is in place (which is rare, as New York usually recycled these jerseys to the minors) completely administered in tackle twill. Accented with dual-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, the vintage HOF jersey has “Gilles” (misspelt) sewn directly onto the jersey, with an intact loop-style fight strap. Stick and slash marks are present along with board burns and paint transfer, with an unrepaired hole and lots of inner pilling. There is also some light staining/discolouration in spots. A signed LOA from Mr Gillies will accompany.
