A member of the International Hockey League between 1974 and 2000 and at times being affiliated with either the Detroit Red Wings or Minnesota North Stars/Dallas Stars, the Kalamazoo Wings would win back-to-back Turner Cup championships in 1978-79 and 1979-80. Featuring an extensive NHL alumni list that includes names such as Ron Wilson, Denis Maruk, Don Beaupre, Jamie Langenbrunner, Mark Tinordi, Peter Zezel and numerous others, offered here is this Wings jersey that dates from their first few seasons of play in the mid-to-late-1970s. A durene knit garment made by Rawlings, a brand tag that includes a size "46" designation is affixed to the inner collar. WIth this style first having been worn during the 1975-76 season and then recycled into numerous years thereafter based on research and before the team switched to mesh construction jerseys in the early-1980s, the front of the piece is decorated with a Wings team crest in layered tackle twill while the sleeves and verso have been styled with the number "23" in intricate single layer tackle twill numerals, a style used between 1975-76 and 1979-80 with the number attributed to having been worn by names such as Craig Crawford (1975-76 - 7GP), Dwight Schofield (1976-77 - 73GP), Kip Churchill (1977-78 - 39GP) and Doug Derkson (1978-79 and 1979-80). Featuring an intact loop style fight strap on the interior, the jersey exhibits excellent game-wear throughout in the form of stick marks over the front, reverse and both sleeves, board burns over both sleeves as well as the right hip, coloured paint transfers over the right hip and both sleeves and team repairs and good sized team repairs totalling two (2) over both the front and reverse, additional wear is observed on the interior in the form of pilling at the collar and both elbows.
