Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
An institution in Chicago and home of the Black Hawks from 1929 until its unfortunate demolition in 1994, Chicago Stadium was constructed at a cost of $9.5 million (roughly $135 million in current dollars), with the venue remembered as the "The Madhouse on Madison" due to the especially loud and boisterous crowd. Rarely seen, we have an original chrome-plated brass push plate from an undisclosed door at the stadium, with this example featuring an attractive “CS” design. We also have the original chrome-plated push bars. The 4” x 15” brass push plate shows wear with clean areas left originally covered by the push bars, with no obtrusive wear or damage. The bars are roughly 25” in length and 9” from top to bottom, with general wear from their prior use. The pieces could be reattached if desired, with a COA from the Chicago Stadium Corporation as these pieces were originally purchased at the landmark Chicago Stadium auction in 1994.
