Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Finishing 10 games ahead of the second-place Pittsburgh Pirates as National League champions, the Chicago Cub faced the formidable Philadelphia Athletics in the 1929 World Series. The series would go only five games, with the A's just too much for the Cubs to handle. This lot offers a rare 1929 Chicago Cubs World Series press pin. At just under 1" in diameter, the enamel pin features the club's classic cub bear with bat embossed, with "World Series" and "Chicago Press - 1929" encircling the perimeter. Showing a bit of minor wear, the reverse utilizes a threaded post-back, with "Hipp & Coburn Co. Chicago" stamped at the bottom of the pin. This is the perfect accompaniment piece to the 1929 Philadelphia Athletics 1929 World Series press pin also offered in this auction.
