Magnificent Stanley Cup memento recognizes the Carolina Hurricanes reaching pro hockey's pinnacle in June of 2006, with head coach Peter Laviolette's men hoisting Lord Stanley's coveted trophy following a 4-2 game seven victory on home ice over the Edmonton Oilers. An enamelled Hurricanes logo swoops around the Stanley Cup on the front of this marvelous white gold creation, with another appearing on one of the shanks, along with "2006" and "Staff." A raised image of the Cup, the team's name, its alternate logo and that of the NHL are on the opposite shank. On the interior is "Intergold 10K" as well as "C.Coffey 6-19-06." That would be Cyndy Coffey, the Hurricanes' Payroll/Human Resources Coordinator who was the recipient of the size 7-1/2 woman's ring. Light wear, in the form of light scratches and a couple of tiny edge dings visible upon magnification, are to mention, along with the ring's original wooden presentation/display box, which features an etched glass window. The device to hold the ring in place for display purposes is no longer present. Recalling a wonderful time in Carolina, this beautiful ensemble awaits its new appreciative home.
The Canes’ memorable playoff run came after a 112-point regular season which saw young Eric Staal lead with 45 goals and 100 points, with Justin Williams, Cory Stillman, captain Rod Brind’Amour, Eric Cole and Ray Whitney also contributing admirably offensively. Come playoff time, Carolina ousted the Canadiens in six games, the Devils in five and the Sabres in seven to claim the Wales Conference title and a berth in the finals against the Oilers.
