Honouring the legendary Montreal Canadiens’ netminders that came before him including iconic Hall of Fame members Jacques Plante, George Hainsworth and Ken Dryden, Carey Price had this special mask designed by David Arrigo for use in the Habs’ historic 5-1 Centennial Game victory, vs Boston, on Dec 4, 2009. Photo and video-matched, the signed single-game Bauer mask features the classic CH emblem over the forehead, with the original stylistic 1909-10 first-season “C” appearing on the chin section. Four different logos used by the club throughout their existence appear muted over the top section between portrait images of Bill Durnan and Georges Vezina, with additional images of Ken Dryden and Jacques Plante gracing the right side, and attractive likenesses of George Hainsworth and Patrick Roy on the left. The Canadiens Cup-winning years are listed on the back plate along with “Carson Kolzig Foundation”, with the strapping and interior padding fully intact.
Price has added a large, gorgeous silver paint pen signature over the upper left, with no issues for the especially thick autograph. The artist has also initialed over each side. The mask itself remains in absolutely beautiful condition, with very light game-use visible including a few faint marks over the chin section. Additionally, the mask is also photo-matched to images taken by David Arrigo, specifically to details of the painted graphics including the small area of material missing in the Stanley Cup on the left side, the small white area visible at the bottom of the opening directly to the left of the chin section, and the tiny blue dot visible within the white band directly above (https://ingoalmag.com/news/carey-prices-montreal-canadiens-100th-anniversary-mask/#jp-carousel-5169).
A hologram from the Canadiens numbered “GW28788” affixed to the interior chin matches the accompanying LOA from the club. Please take note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve.
