Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
One of the first Quebec historians to study Confederation, Lionel Groulx insisted on its recognition of Quebec rights and minority rights. Ordained a Roman Catholic priest in 1903, Groulx (b. Jan. 13, 1878; d. May 23, 1967) has been commemorated with a CEGEP, College Lionel Groulx, a Metro station in Montreal’s subway system, Lionel-Groulx, named in his memory, as well as Lionel Groulx Avenue. Groulx’s penmanship is displayed wonderfully in the blue fountain pen ink signed dedication to Marcel Trudel on the first page inside the cover of this 1964 softcover book “L’Oeuvre du Chanoine Lionel Groulx”. Beginning on page 13, Trudel has written in the book about Groulx. The dedicated signature is in wonderful condition and the book displays expecting aging to its modest cover.
