Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
The namesake of the coveted NHL trophy awarded to the outstanding performer as voted by the league's players, Lester B. Pearson served as Canada’s 14th Prime Minister (1963-68), and he remains the only Canadian to have ever been honoured with the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize. We have a typed letter signed by the former incumbent on Prime Minister letterhead, with the addressee the noteworthy Michael McCafferty. Serving as personal assistant to former Prime Minister John Diefenbaker, McCafferty also acted as witness at the swearing in of three US Presidents, Jimmy Carter, George Bush Sr and Ronald Reagan. At approx. 8” x 9 ½”, the letter is dated August 1st 1967, with the Prime Minister's embossed seal along the top section. Signed in ballpoint, the signature exhibits no issues, with just light wear to the letter itself, including a pair of expected horizontal fold lines.
