From the California Golden Seals’ swan song season, this 1975-76 game-worn jersey from the Oakland-based team is attributed to Bob Murdoch. Not to be confused with the veteran defenseman of the same name, the rookie right wing had 22 goals and 49 points in the Seals’ final season before the franchise moved to Cleveland. A style worn in the Seals’ final two seasons in the Bay Area, this heavy stretchy knit jersey has a vented front collar, cut fight strap and seven team repairs. There is evidence of a former nameplate and that numbers on the sleeve and back were repositioned, repaired or updated back in the day by the team. Gunzo’s tagging remains in the back of the neck with a washed-out flag tag.
There are four team repairs on the right sleeve, another on the top of the left sleeve, and two more on the front. More game wear includes board burns on the sleeves, reddish-brown spot stains on the front and on the back of the left sleeve, a board burn with red paint transfer on the right rear tail, faint red paint transfer on the right sleeve and a black mark low on the right sleeve. There is an outline and staining where the nameplate was removed from the back.
