Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019

Closing out one of the great chapters in New York hockey, Bryan Trottier would play his final season on Long Island in 1989-90, with the previous decade-and-a-half witnessing an impressive showing from the Art Ross and Hart Memorial winner. Registering six seasons of 100-plus points, Trottier would also be one of the most integral components to the Islanders success which included their epic four-consecutive Stanley Cup championships. This photo-matched New York alternate captain’s jersey was worn by the HOFer during his swan-song season in Nassau County. A Maska Air-Knit label with handwritten “54” sizing graces the collar, with an embroidered CCM crest over the reverse hem. Styled with the iconic Long Island team crest in layered, tri-colour tackle twill, the royal blue V-neck sweater has been accented with white sleeve and verso numbers with orange trim, along with a thin alternate’s “A”, with “Trottier” across the nameplate in single white twill. Originating from Trottier’s personal collection, an LOA from the family will accompany this highly desirable jersey.
Sporting heavy use with numerous marks over the sleeves and lower front including a large stick mark across the lower portion of the team crest, fabric pulls and scuff marks are also visible, with a small hole over the left elbow. Additional dark marks are present over the reverse numbers, with a small tear over the reverse bottom hem. We should also note a few small pinholes over the shoulders and near the left sleeve’s number, with these resulting from a former mounting. Trottier’s 1990-91 Topps hockey card (#6) has been utilized for the photo-matches, with the image on the card matched to the big black stick mark on the lower left edge of the team crest.
