Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
Brian Hayward, along with Patrick Roy, enjoyed sharing William M. Jennings Trophies (for fewest allowed goals) in the late-1980s, and it was during this time, 1987-89, that Hayward wore this white Habs jersey with number 1 on the back, the number HOFer Jacques Plante made famous, and which would be retired in 1995 in Plante's honour. Measuring-out to a size 52 and showing nice game-use, this CCM/Maska Hayward gamer has marks and small stains scattered about including within a team crest opening, with some fraying to the threading on the team crest. There is also some pilling beneath the fight strap, with the crest showing distinct puckering. "Hayward" is displayed in tackle twill blue lettering on a white nameplate. Following Hayward, three other Habs goalies (Frederic Chabot, Roland Melanson, and Ron Tugnutt) would wear number 1 before it was officially retired for Plante in 1995. An LOA from MeiGray will accompany.
