Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Remembered for their utterly astounding comeback down 3 games to the Yankees in the 2004 ALCS, the Boston Red Sox went on to sweep the Cards in the Fall Classic, finally breaking the curse of the Bambino and ushering in a new era of Boston baseball. We have a bat team-signed by the 2004 world champions, along with a golf putter signed by four including Jason Varitek and David Ortiz and a catcher’s mitt signed by Varitek. The 33” Louisville bat has “2004 World Champs” along with “Limited 4 of 104” burned into the upper barrel, with 22 signing in blue marker including Martinez, Cabrera, Ramirez, Schilling, Damon, Varitek and others. Holograms from Tri-Star (3131239) and MLB Authenticated (MT00538138) have been affixed to the left of the center brand, with no issues for the signatures or bat.
The catcher’s mitt is an All-Star CM 3000 SBT model that shows no use, with an oil stain within the palm that encompasses the Jason Varitek signature that has been scripted in black marker. The putter has no maker listed, and it features a blue-fading-to-red shaft with full-colour Red Sox logo, with four signing in black marker including Jason Varitek and David Ortiz, with no issues for the signatures.
