Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Synonymous with greatness, those fortunate enough to have seen Bobby Orr in action during his all-too-brief Hall of Fame career will understand and appreciate the way the Parry Sound wunderkind completely revolutionized the game, becoming the game’s first blueliner to focus on offence as much as defence. The winner of eight (8) straight Norris Trophy’s, Orr would also add the Calder Memorial, Conn Smythe (x2), Hart Memorial (x3) and Art Ross (x2) Trophies to his awards showcase during his career along with two (2) Stanley Cup’s and become one of the biggest and most marketable stars the National Hockey League had ever seen up to that point. Still one of the most collected players in the game today, offered here is this collection of signed Orr memorabilia. Starting with a framed display that measures 21" x 16 1/2" and includes a commemorative yellow Massachusetts "4" license plate, "Bruins" appears at one side of the 11 3/4" x 6" piece while Orr has signed the other with a black marker ink signature that displays without issue. Housed in a black wooden frame that shows light wear to the corners and edges and that has a metal plaque reading "Bobby Orr #4 - Boston Bruins Legend" added to the bottom of it, a Great North Road sticker is affixed to the bottom left corner of the piece, which is accompanied by a matching COA. Also including an 19" x 15 1/4" dual-signed framed photo display of Orr and famed hockey coach/personality Don Cherry, the visible portion of the image measures roughly 12 1/2" x 9 1/4" while the photo itself has shifted in the frame. Displayed under a white matte and housed in a simple black frame that shows wear to the corners and edges, both Orr and Cherry have signed under their respective images with blue paint marker ink signatures that display without issue. Concluded with a copy of Orr's 1977-78 O-Pee-Chee card that pictures him as a member of the Chicago Black Hawks, Orr has signed over the front with a black marker ink signature that displays without issue. A JSA Auction LOA will accompany the lot for the Orr/Cherry signed photo and Orr signed card.
