Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
The catalyst that started it all, the WHA, and later, the monumental expansion the NHL witnessed could never have come to fruition without the million dollar contract first offered to superstar Bobby Hull by the outlaw league. Playing a total of 411 games in the WHA through its entire lifespan, all with the Winnipeg Jets, and scoring a total of 638 points over those games, offered here is this WHA Winnipeg Jets equipment bag used by Hull for a period of time in the 1970s as a member of the Jets. A heavy blue canvas construction piece by CCM, logo patches from the company are sewn to either end while Hull's number "9" is sewn to one side along with a vinyl Jets logo patch on the other, displaying worn out "roster" designation at the bottom of it. Displaying strong evidence and signs of use throughout its entirety via staining, fading from age, wear to the edges and bottom and small holes/frays to the corners, the zipper remains functional and the white canvas handles on either side are still present and accounted for as well as intact. Originally hailing from his personal collection and offered as part of the Bobby Hull Collection auction in 2004, Hull has signed over one side underneath the Jets logo with a blue marker ink signature that displays well, with the 1983 HHOF inductee adding his number "9" and "1972-80" to the autograph as well in matching ink
