Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
Enjoying a four (4) year college hockey career with the Boston College Eagles of the NCAA between 1982 and 1986, Bob Sweeney would be drafted 123rd overall by his hometown Boston Bruins at the 1982 NHL Entry Draft and go on to play in 639 National Hockey League games over the course of his career with the likes of Boston, Buffalo, New York and Calgary. Offered here, we present this photo-matched Sabres jersey donned by Sweeney during the 1993-94 season. Made by CCM and sporting "NHL Center Ice Authentic Collection", size "56" and Maska Ultrafil tagging affixed to the inner collar, the jersey retains its original fight strap on the interior and the logos of both CCM and the NHL have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a familiar Sabres team crest that has been administered in a layered tackle twill style while also sporting embroidered details, matching crests of a smaller size have been added atop of both shoulders as well. Accented over the sleeves and verso with Sweeney's number "20" in dual layer yellow-over-white tackle twill numerals, "Sweeney" is spelt out in single layer yellow twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Displaying good game-wear throughout its entirety, including a stick mark through the front crest and additional ones over lower front, reverse and both sleeves, the jersey shows additional signs of use via numerous board burns and unrepaired cuts/holes in both sleeves, additional board burns over the upper reverse, a team repair near the base of the collar, light pilling/fraying around the ends of both cuffs and coloured paint transfer marks over the lower front, the jersey has been photo-matched to an image of Sweeney taken during the season which shows a match to the stick marks through the team crest on the front.
