A WHA journeyman, making appearance for four different clubs which included a trio of seasons in Chicago with the Cougars, Bob Liddington first dressed for the Toronto Maple Leafs, seeing action in 11 games during the 1970-71 NHL season. From his time in Denver, we have an extremely rare single-season Spurs alternate captain’s jersey worn by the Calgary native in 1975-76, the club’s only season. First wearing recycled jerseys from the 1974-75 CHL Spurs at the beginning of the season, these second set jerseys were worn later, and until the club folded (after a two-game stint as the Ottawa Civics). Wilson and BH labels with “46” sizing is affixed to the collar, with no additional tagging present. Featuring a tackle twill team crest with embroidered detailing, “7” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered twill, with the garter-style fight strap intact. The original nameplate has also been removed from the upper reverse. Exhibiting heavy wear throughout, there are marks, material pulls, scuffs and paint transfer, with numerous small holes over the front and reverse. There is also puckering to the team crest and pilling to the interior, with a single team repair on the right sleeve. The Spurs/Civics' 41-game existence made them the shortest-lived franchise in WHA history.
