Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009

This gorgeous mesh NHL All-Star jersey was used by Bob Bourne in the 1981 game in Los Angeles, the first All-Star game on the West coast. There is a nice black stick mark on the front lower right part of the jersey, just above the black trim around the bottom. The size 54 sweater still has its original Gerry Cosby neck tags, the big one sewn into the middle and smaller size and laundry instruction tags on either side. Bourne's No. 14 is sewn on the back and on both sleeves in tackle twill, as is his name, spelled out in individual letters sewn directly onto the jersey across the back. The orange and black NHL logo crest is sewn onto the front and smaller league logos are sewn onto two white stars on either breast, with two more league crests on each shoulder. Three tackle twill white and black stars are sewn onto the front and three more on the back, with one more on each arm. An original 10" x 8" print of the Campbell Conference team photo is included with Bourne in the middle of the back row along with teammates Liut, Ramage, Bossy, Barber, Gartner, McCarthy, Peeters, Johnstone, Murray, Williams, Behn Wilson, Gretzky, Potvin, Lukowich, Wayne Babych, Holmgren, Dailey, Nilsson, and Federko lined up with the Kings' logo on the Forum ice in the foreground. A copy of NHL executive VP Brian O'Neill's letter to Bourne advising the Islanders forward of his All-Star selection rounds out this great lot that includes Bourne's signed LOA.
