A veteran of 771 National Hockey League games during his career that resulted in a quartet of All-Star Game appearances, Bill Goldsworthy would represent his country in the famed Summit Series of 1972 against the Soviet Union, skating in three (3) games and registering a goal and an assist. Playing the last 49 games of his career in the rival league of the WHA as a member of the Indianapolis Racers in 1977-78 and Edmonton Oilers in 1978-79, offered here is this stick used by Goldsworthy during his time in Alberta that has been signed by the twenty-four (24) members of that final WHA season squad. A Northland Registered Pattern model with the number "6405" stamped to the shaft, "Goldsworthy" stamped on the both sides of the upper shaft along with a "Steichens" supplier stamp, the handle has been heavily shaved down to Bill's liking. Retaining its original tape job of white over the handle/knob and black over majority of the blade with some missing near the toe, some of the fibreglass wrapping near the toe section has dried out and frayed as well. Exhibiting good game-wear via numerous dark marks throughout the shaft, lower shaft, heel and blade, abrasions are found over much of the shaft as well while red post paint marks are present as well. With a handwritten notation in black ink over the upper shaft, "Karat", his nickname, along with Goldsworthy's number "9", cracks are found over the lower shaft and heel areas that are worth mentioning for accuracy.
With the graphics sanded off of the stick on the backhand side of the shaft, the stick has been signed by approximately 24 members of the 1978-79 oilers including Gretzky, Dryden, Carlson, Mio, Hunter, Bailey, Sobchuk, Shmyr, Callighen, Flett, Langevin, Weir, Chipperfield, Semenko, Neilson, MacDonald, Hughes, Siltanen, Kamppuri, Micheletti, Goldsworthy, Driscoll, Alexander and Hamilton in black marker ink with all the autographs displaying well despite some light fading from age.
