Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
Playing his junior hockey as a member of the OHA's Hamilton Red Wings and playing with various Detroit affiliates in the early portion of his professional career, Bart Crashley would play in a grand total of 140 National Hockey League contests during his time in pro hockey, split between the Red Wings, Kansas City Scouts and Los Angeles Kings while also suiting up in 148 games in the WHA as a member of the Los Angeles Sharks during their two (2) seasons of existence. Offered here, we present this Kansas City Scouts jersey donned by Crashley during his short 27 game stint with the club during their inaugural season of 1974-75. A durene knit construction garment made by Wilson, the brand's washing instructions and size label that displays a "48" designation is sewn to the inner collar. Decorated over the front with a tri-layer tackle twill Scouts team crest that features beautiful chain-stitched embroidery details throughout, the sleeves and verso of the jersey have been decorated with Crashley's number "4" in dual layer white-over-red tackle twill numerals. Of note, Crashley was traded to the Detroit Red Wings on December 14th, 1974 for Claude Houde, who would wear the number "4" upon his arrival in Kansas City. We previously offered a Scouts jersey from the same season that had the number "4" on the sleeves and verso that we now believe to have been worn by Houde after being acquired due to it being of a larger size which makes sense when comparing the height and weight of the two players. Having had a "1974" year swatch sewn inside the reverse hem, the jersey displays just light game-wear in the form of light stick marks through the left side of the team crest and reverse number "4" while some very light inner pilling, thread fraying and puckering is found on the interior that is also void of a fight strap.
