Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction April 2024

Playing his junior hockey as member of the Montreal Junior Canadiens in the Ontario Hockey Association where he would help the club to a Memorial Cup championship in 1969, Art Quoquochi would be drafted 22nd overall by the Boston Bruins in the 1969 NHL Amateur Draft and play three (3) seasons of pro hockey in a mix of leagues including the WHL, CHL, IHL and AHL during that time. Offered here, we present this WHL Salt Lake Golden Eagles jersey worn by Quoquochi during the club's first season on play in 1969-70. A heavyweight durene knit offering made by General Athletic, the brand washing instructions label is affixed inside the reverse hem with a Lee Underwood Designs tag hand sewn onto the top of it. Displaying a frayed size "48" label affixed to the inner collar, the front of the jersey is decorated with a Golden Eagles team crest in layered yellow and blue tackle twill that features chain-stitched detail throughout. Accented with yellow, white and red striping accents down the sleeves and sides as well as around the hem, Quoquochi's number "23" has been sewn to the sleeves and verso in dual layer red-over-yellow tackle twill numbers while the upper reverse is void of any nameplate and has never had one applied to it. Exhibiting overall light game-wear since Quoquochi only played in twenty-four (24) games that season, a small unrepaired hole is present on the front of the jersey while some light pilling as well as some frayed threads are found on the interior along with some light discoloration in the armpits and other sweat staining. Also exhibiting some puckering behind the numerals and crest on the interior plus some sweat staining around the collar, it is also worth noting that the shirt is from the inaugural season set that was kept through their first three (3) seasons of play but research shows nobody wore the number "23" the following two seasons based on rosters in programs from both years. An LOA will accompany the piece.
