Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015

Anton Stastny was a rising star for Czechoslovakia’s national hockey team before he and his brothers defected from the communist country to play for the NHL’s Quebec Nordiques. Stastny wore this No. 20 jersey while playing for Czechoslovakia in 1979, and according to our consignor, it was traded for after that year’s IIHF World Championships in Moscow. The 19-year-old winger scored five goals and had six points in eight games during that tournament. Cotton-type fabric letters spelling out “A.Stastny” are sewn directly onto the jersey in red, blue and off-white, the same as the numbers on the back and both sleeves. Tie-neck gamer has a red, white and blue knit collar and national crest sewn on the front. A great international game-worn jersey with light black marks on the right sleeve and a few sweat stains.
There is some pinkish-red staining at the bottom of the numbers on the back, on the right shoulder and low on both sleeves near the cuff.
