Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
The Hart Memorial Trophy winner in 1959, Andy Bathgate spent 17 seasons in the NHL, with his number 9 retired by the New York Rangers in 2009. We have a stick used by the Hall of Fame Winnipegger in 1966-67 while with the Red Wings, and it's been team-signed. A Northland Glass Fused Custom Pro model, “Bathgate” appears on the upper shaft with his preferred lie, along with dual stamps from supplier Olympic Sporting Goods. The stick retains its original tape over the blade and handle, with additional white tape added to the upper shaft to rectify a crack/break. 16 have signed the front side of the shaft in ballpoint along with Bathgate, including deceased Hall of Famer's Gordie Howe, Alex Delvecchio and Sid Abel.
Others who have signed include Hampson, MacGregor, Prentice, Henderson, Bergman, Boivin, Cullen, Marshall, Goegan, Mahovlich, Bassen, and Roger Crozier. Good use is exhibited on the stick, with wear to the blade, along with numerous marks to the lower shaft.
