Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
Leading the NHL in wins for five consecutive seasons beginning in 2017–18, Andrei Vasilevskiy has been a literal brick wall during his especially noteworthy career, contributing largely to the success of the Tampa Bay Lightning including the consecutive Stanley Cup championships won by the club in 2020 and 2021. Selected for his fifth All-Star Game appearance in 2023, we offer a stunning signed and photo-matched mask worn by the superstar netminder during the second half of the 2022-23 season including Steven Stamkos' 1,000th career game (April 11, 2023), as well as the first round of the 2022-23 NHL playoffs vs the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Originally obtained directly from Vasilevskiy according to the accompanying LOA signed by the Big Cat, the Bauer NME ONE mask shell was painted by Sylvie Marsolais of Sylabrush - with his small and light signature on the outer side of the left ear. Vasilevskiy has signed the inner chin section in black marker. Sporting a gorgeous paint job in Tampa Bay colour scheme with large cat with open jaw and electrified eyes over the forehead, three-dimensional silver lightning bolts, "Lightning" in three-dimensional block letters and Russian Federation coat-of-arms Eagles over each side, and "88" over the chin, the back plate has a V-shaped silver thunderbolt with Jesus on the cross motif, with his son "Lucas" and wife "Ksenia" in attractive script on each side. Game-wear is light, with a surface chip on the right side beneath the cage, a few dark marks on the left side over the Russian coat-of-arms, and a large chip partially covered by the middle portion of the top of the cage - with some of the chip filled in with blue marker (a small area is not filled in).
For the photo-matches for the REGULAR SEASON; Getty Images #1467592760 (February 18th 2023), #1473590094 (March 14th 2023) and #1476657985 (March 25th 2023) have all been matched to particularities of the paint job on the left ear side of the mask, and to the black mark on the lower strap, while Getty Image #1251634438 (April 11th 2023 Stamkos 1000th game) has been matched to particularities of the paint job on the right ear side of the mask, and to a portion of the backplate, as well as the black mark on the upper strap. For the photo-matches for the STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS; Getty Images #1251970358 (April 18th 2023 Round 1 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Game 1), #1252031055 (April 20th 2023 Round 1 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Game 2) and #1252367902 (April 28th 2023 Round 1 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Game 6) have all been matched to particularities of the paint job on the left ear side of the mask, and to a few game marks including a small blue mark above the higher ear hole, and a black mark on the lower strap. Lastly, Getty Image #1486772721 (April 27th 2023 Round 1 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs Game 5) has been matched to particularities of the paint job on the front of the mask, and to the small chip below the "U" of "Bauer". As mentioned, a signed LOA will accompany from Vasilevskiy along with a Bauer carry/storage bag, and it must be noted that this mask is a true work of art done to the absolute highest quality, and it is undoubtedly one of the nicest we have ever handled.
