Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
Finishing first in the Patrick Division at the close of the 1983-84 NHL season, the New York Islanders – led by team-assist leader Bryan Trottier and leading goal-scorer Mike Bossy, would claim their third consecutive Prince of Wales Trophy. Swedish star Anders Kallur - a member of each of the Isles Stanley Cup dynasty cup wins - would contribute four points during the playoffs including the overtime winner in Game 2 of the Division Finals, and an assist on Clark Gillies' first goal of a hat trick in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals. For their status as Wales Conference playoff champions, members of the Islanders received miniature Prince of Wales trophies to commemorate their fine campaign, with this example originally presented to Kallur. At 13" in height, "Anders Kallur” is engraved along with that of the trophy name on a metal plaque applied to one side of the 2-inch high wooden base (this plaque in now detached but included, with the two nails used to affix it to the trophy missing), while engraving on a second plaque over the reverse reads "NHL Champions – New York Islanders – 1983-84". Four silver-plated hockey sticks rise up from the base to support a cup with removable lid, with condition very nice overall, with a few blemishes and scratches visible, with some oxidation to the lid which has been cleaned and remains a bit spotty. Originating from Kallur’s personal collection, an LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
