Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
Joining the New York Islanders on the eve of the team's Stanley Cup dynasty in 1979-80, Swedish winger Anders Kallur contributed greatly to the Big Apple squad, scoring 52 points in 76 games during his rookie season. Despite no playing time during the team's first Stanley Cup playoff run, Kallur would net a combined 29 points over the next three postseasons while helping the Long Islanders hoist Lord Stanley's coveted trophy each season. From his personal collection, we have a pair of team-signed sticks used by Kallur, one during his rookie season of 1979-80, and one from his sophomore year in 1980-81. Both matching Koho 221 Custom Pro models with "Kallur" stamped to each and "28" handwritten on the 1980-81 stick, both have the original tape intact on the blade and handle. Light use is shown on the pair, with wear to the blade and handle tape, and a few marks along with paint transfer to each shaft. The 1979-80 stick has been signed by 24 in ballpoint on one side of the shaft that has been shaved down, including Mike Bossy, Bryan Trottier, Clark Gillies, Denis Potvin, Al Arbour, Bob Bourne, Glenn Resch, Bob Nystrom, Butch Goring (indicating that it was signed late in the season as Goring was obtained in a trade on March 10th 1980) and others. The signatures remain dark and legible, despite being somewhat bunched-up on the stick. The 1980-81 stick has been signed by 22, also on one side of the shaft, including Kallur, along with Mike Bossy, Bryan Trottier, Billy Smith, Bob Nystrom, Bob Bourne, Duane Sutter, Gord Lane, Billy Carroll, Garry Howatt (last season with Islanders) and possibly Lorne Henning who's last season was with the Islanders in 1980-81. Condition of the autographs varies and some of them are hard to make out because of their placements or because they have faded. A Classic Auctions LOA will accompany.
