From the famed Springfield Indians of the AHL and worn from mid-January 1975 through to the end of the Calder Cup Finals that spring when the Indians would win it all is this sensational game-worn Indians jersey. Tagged in the collar as a "Champion (size) 48", this mesh jersey has the Indian head logo, number "2" on back and shoulders, and hem and sleeve stripes all heat-pressed on. Condition-wise sees marks and board burns scattered about, as well as several team repairs including 3 on the front and 2 more on the right sleeve, and an unrepaired hole on the right sleeve and on the back. Areas of the heat-pressed paint have cracked slightly as well. An absolute gem of a classic AHL gamer with nice game wear, and comes with a Classic LOA.
The Springfield Indians changed their name to the Kings in 1968 when the franchise became part of the L.A. Kings fold, and even changed the colors to purple and gold like their parent team. But in ’74-75, Eddie Shore once again took full control, changed the name back to the Indians, went back to the original blue, white, and red uniforms for the season, and captured the club’s fifth Calder Cup. Truly an awesome game-worn jersey from a tremendously important chapter in Springfield hockey.
