Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
The “9-11” memorial patch is sewn on the left breast of Adam Oates’ 2001-02 Washington Capitals game-worn jersey from the Hall of Fame center’s personal collection. On January 14, 2002, Oates became the eighth player in NHL history to reach 1,000 career assists when he set up Dainus Zubrus' overtime winning goal in a 1–0 victory over the Boston Bruins wearing a home Capitals jersey like this one. Size 54 and Made in Canada flag tags hang in the back of the neck, Capitals screaming eagle patches are sewn on both shoulders and the NHL crest is embroidered on the right rear tail. The alternate captain’s “A” is sewn on the left breast and the fight strap has been cut and removed, which is typical of Oates’ gamers. Game wear includes black marks and board burns on the copper striping on the front tail and a board burn on the left elbow. Comes with Adam Oates’ signed LOA.
