Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
Splendid autographed cards featuring the Canadian men who helped write hockey history in 1972 have always been coveted by collectors and were part of a 1992 release by "Future Trends" commemorating the Summit Series' 20th anniversary. The 35 members of Team Canada, as well as Russian great Vladislav Tretiak, each signed a limited number of their cards, inserted into packs at a rate of only one or two per case. Specially coated with a swirl pattern over the gold ink signatures, this set is in a suave album presented to Yvan Cournoyer, with his name appearing in gold lettering on the album's cover. A "regular" 101-card set is also present, along with framed cards of Yvan and Team Canada, with his example being signed. Comes with an LOA signed by Classic Auctions.
Cournoyer, inducted into the HOF in 1982, has signed the inside cover of the album in bold black marker as “Yvan Cournoyer, Team Canada 72”, and has also signed the back of the framed card display, with the frame measuring overall at approximately 7” x 11”.
