Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Despite years of heartbreak and high hopes falling short, one player has quietly become a
constant for the Maple Leafs when the games mean the most. William Nylander has been that
steady presence—showing up when the lights shine brightest, elevating his play under
pressure, and building a reputation as one of the team’s most reliable postseason performers.
While the fanbase in Canada’s largest city can be critical , Nylander’s consistency in the clutch
has earned him a new nickname among fans: “Playoff Willy.”
This white Toronto Maple Leafs road jersey “was worn by Toronto Maple Leafs all-star forward
#88 William Nylander during a portion of the 2023-24 National League season including during
game 5 of the first round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Boston Bruins,” as
confirmed by the team LOA. The jersey has been photo-matched to that very game (Getty
Images #2150900545) by a distinctive white loose thread on the upper blue stripe of the right
sleeve, located just below the second “8”. Inside the collar sits an Adidas brand label indicating
“Size 56” and “Made in Canada,” alongside a heat-pressed inventory barcode “TML00002203”,
which matches the serial number on the LOA. Inside the jersey a fight strap is firmly secured
and marked with a handwritten “Boston GM 5” in black marker. Affixed on the strap are both the
Catstitch logo and the Borje Salming memorial logo, heat-pressed on. Nylander’s “88” appears
in blue single twill on both sleeves and across the verso. His name, “NYLANDER,” is stitched in
matching blue lettering across a white nameplate. The NHL shield is set at the front collar, while
the Adidas logo appears at the top of the reverse neckline. The “Milk” logo is heat pressed onto
the upper right chest. Wear is evident throughout; a team repair is found on the lower right
sleeve, and there are a couple of stick marks near the left cuff.
