Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
Enjoying an 8-season NHL career that included backstopping the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Rangers, Wayne Thomas evolved into a goaltending coach after his playing days, followed by head coach and assistant general manager. The Ottawa native was named vice president of the San Jose Sharks in 2001, remaining with the club until his retirement in 2015. This President's Trophy was presented to Thomas for the Sharks status as regular season champions in 2008-09. At just over 15" and featuring a metal base poised over three columns with crossed hockey sticks topped with a removable bowl, the wooden bottom base is tiered, with a plaque affixed to the front with "National Hockey League President's Trophy" engraved, along with "Wayne Thomas San Jose Sharks 2008-09". The underside has felt along with a sticker from maker Boffey, with the original storage bag with embroidered NHL logo included. The keepsake remains in outstanding condition with no issues.
