Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
In just his 15th game of the 1982-83 NHL season, Wayne Gretzky notched his tenth (10th) of seventy-one (71) goals, on route to 197 points and his third consecutive Art Ross Trophy. Helping Edmonton to a record of 47-21-12 during the regular season and cruising through the playoffs to the franchise's first (1st) Stanley Cup Finals appearance, offered here is this beautiful shadow box display featuring the actual game-used puck used by "The Great One" to record his tenth (10th) goal of the fruitful 1982-83 season on November 5th, 1982 on home ice at Northlands Coliseum against the New York Rangers. The 209th goal of Wayne's NHL career and coming at 10:16 of the third (3rd) period and assisted by fellow HOF inductees Jari Kurri and Kevin Lowe, the display measures roughly 20 ¾” x 24” for its effort and features the goal puck, sporting a partially worn Oilers logo over its face, mounted within the lower center while three (3) inserted action photos of the goal being plotted along with a gold-coloured plaque appear throughout, with the plaque listing the particulars of the goal, including his victim, the New York Rangers. With the puck itself exhibits light-to-moderate wear with a small chunk of rubber missing near the top right while the display itself is found to be in overall beautiful overall condition, displaying well with just some minor wear from display and age observed to the edges and corners of the frame. Also including a copy of the game's score sheet which remains in overall good condition despite some minor tearing along the bottom edge, adhesive staining along the top from once being affixed to the back of the frame and general age/handling wear to the edges and corners plus the odd crease, a torn ticket stub from the game the puck hails from accompanied everything as well. Originally originating from the personal collection of former Oilers team photographer Bob Mummery, the display comes accompanied by his signed LOA as well as an additional Classic Auctions LOA from a previous sale.
