Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/8/2017
It's the classic photo of a young 12 year old kid from Brantford named Wayne Gretzky meeting his idol Gordie Howe, with Mr. Hockey playfully hooking a mini-stick up around the protégé’s ear. This iconic image has been shown in various magazines and books for many years. An 18” x 30” print on canvas, it’s been housed in a beautiful dark-finished wooden frame and hand numbered 6/99. Both legends have signed beneath their respective image in thick gold sharpie, with the signatures standing out well. Framed to total dimensions of 24” x 36”, a hologram from WGA has been placed in the lower left, and a matching COA will accompany.
While the canvas remains in flawless condition, the frame does exhibit some wear along edges, with a chip along the back edge on the left hand side.
