Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
It’s not often in life that one is able to eclipse their idol, but that’s exactly the case with Wayne Gretzky. On October 15th 1989, Wayne scored his 1,851st point to surpass the legendary Gordie Howe for all-time NHL points leader. This roughly 11” x 14” photo features the dapper pair after Wayne edged past Howe, with each holding pucks with their career points totals displayed. A plaque beneath the photo lists the details, including the limited-edition number of "447/500". Nicely matted and framed to full dimensions of 16 1/2” x 20 1/2”, each legend has signed over his respective image in black marker, with the signatures displaying with moderate fading that is worth noting for accuracy. Ready for a prominent spot on your favourite wall, a COA will accompany the piece. Additionally, also included with the lot is a baseball signed by Gretzky, a Rawlings "Official League" offering which has been signed by "The Great One" with a bold black marker ink signature that displays without issue. In overall excellent condition, a JSA sticker numbered "Z49911" is affixed to the ball and is accompanied by a matching LOA. Finally, the final item included is a booklet featuring Upper Deck authenticated 22K gold "Rookie" and "Career" cards that have been done by The Danbury Mint, with the "Championship" cards housed in a pocket and each accompanied by a page of information pertaining to the "Rookie" and "Career" seasons that they are profiling.
