Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
On March 23rd 1994, a fourteen year old record that was decades in the making, was broken. On this very day, Wayne Gretzky slipped the puck past Vancouver’s Kirk McLean to cement his place in history as the NHL’s all-time leading goal scorer. This gorgeous lithograph by artist Danny Day is entitled “802”, and it celebrates Wayne’s amazing and unbeatable accomplishment. With a 20” x 25” image area, a collage of Gretzky images are featured set amid the LA/Edmonton skyline. Nicely matted and framed with handwritten 438/880, Wayne has signed at the center bottom in pencil with a beautiful signature. Wayne’s signature was provided through Upper Deck, and a COA stating this will accompany.
