Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Wayne Gretzky has crowned his signed L.A. Kings jersey featured in this framed display with a gorgeous blue marker autograph on the team crest on the front. The Great One’s trade from Edmonton to the Kings in the summer of 1988 set off a wave of interest in hockey in Southern California that helped spur growth of the NHL in many new markets throughout the United States, as evidenced by a wave of expansion throughout the 1990s that added nine new teams. Wayne is pictured in action with the Kings in 1992-93, the season he led L.A. to the Stanley Cup Finals. A “Wayne Gretzky, Los Angeles Kings” plaque sits at the bottom of the display between modern Kings logos. Comes with a JSA LOA.
