Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Shocking the hockey world with his unmatched scoring ability, Wayne Gretzky set the NHL record book on fire during the 1981-82 season - scoring 50 goals IN ONLY 39 games, something previously seen as impossible. Dumbfounding fans and officials even further, Wayne would finish the memorable season with 212 points and 92 goals - both records (Gretzky surpassed his 212 points with 215 in 1985-86). Offered here, we present this framed display commemorating the historic moment. Including an 8" x 10" photo taken of Gretzky after scored one (1) of his five (5) goals on the evening, a small metal plaque reading "Wayne Gretzky - Edmonton Oilers" and listing the particulars of the game, including the date, number of goals Wayne scored and the record is found to the right of the image and above an Oilers logo puck which Gretzky has signed with a fine silver marker ink signature that displays without issue. With the signed puck serial numbered "87/199" in matching silver ink, Gretzky has added an inscription reading "50/39" at the bottom of the puck in matching silver ink. With everything double matted under blue and orange and housed in a simple black frame that measures out to full dimensions of 16 1/2" x 14 1/2" overall, a WGA COA will accompany the piece and is affixed to the back of the piece. Of note, the frame shows some light wear to the edges and corners that is worth noting for accuracy.
While all of our frames are thoroughly and safely packaged for shipping, due to the size and/or weight, and dependent upon the shipping company, we should mention that damage may occur in transit. Please note that as such, we are not responsible for any damage to frames that occurs during shipping.
