Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Known for his rugged style, Warren Rychel enjoyed a career as one of the NHL’s most
dependable enforcers, equal parts grit and toughness. A fan-favorite wherever he played,
Rychel spent a single season with the Toronto Maple Leafs during the shortened 1994-95
campaign, suiting up for 26 regular season games and 3 playoff matchups. Though his time in
blue and white was brief, it served as a prelude to the pinnacle of his career, hoisting the
Stanley Cup the very next year with the Colorado Avalanche.
This blue Maple Leafs jersey was worn by Rychel during that brief stint in Toronto. Tagged in the
collar with a crisp size 54 Maska tag, the jersey notably retains most of its original born-on date
sticker on the back of the tag, evidence that it did not go through multiple washings. The Maple
Leafs logo appears on both shoulders, while a fight strap is affixed inside the jersey.
Game wear is light, as expected given Rychel’s limited appearances that season. There is some
light soiling visible on the left cuff. Otherwise, the jersey remains in excellent condition with no
major flaws. “RYCHEL” is stitched in white single twill on a blue nameplate across the back,
while his number “21” appears on both sleeves and the reverse in white. The CCM and NHL
shield logos are stitched to the hem on the back of the jersey. This jersey comes with a team letter of authenticity.
