The annual contest played as a showcase between the greatest players in the league, the NHL All-Star Game originated as a benefit game, with the first modern installment taking place in 1947. This lot contains 20 different All-Star Game items, including photos of both the East and West Division teams from 1968-69 and 1970-71, a serving tray from the 1984 contest with advertising from Budweiser, a NOS wallet from the twentieth annual contest in 1967, a NOS key holder from the twelfth annual contest in Montreal in 1958, a mounted souvenir wooden puck from 1977, a plastic puck-shaped souvenir from the 1986 contest in Hartford, a commemorative medallion from 1992, keychains from 1978 and 1985 along with a few All-Star and miscellaneous pins.
The four photos are all affixed to mounts (12” x 14”), with the players and year listed below. Pictured are Orr, Hull, Beliveau, Howe, Horton and others. The 1968-69 examples are in very good condition, while the pair from 1970-71 exhibit water damage to the mounts along with damage to the West Division photo. Wear is present, along with scratches and marks to the front and reverse. The souvenirs from 1977 and 1986 both show wear, with marks and scratches present. The pins include All-Star Game examples from 1984, 1986, 1988 and 2000, along with a pair of pins from Rendez-Vous 1987 and a pair for the NHL Challenge Cup.
