Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
This vintage 1980s Team Canada jersey was presented back in the day to deceased HOFer Harold Ballard. The eccentric and irascible Toronto Maple Leafs owner may well have received this gift as a nod to his past service to Canada’s international hockey efforts, including serving as the assistant manager of the Toronto Varsity Grads team that won Olympic gold in 1928 in St. Moritz. Ballard also arranged a European tour for the Nationals which included competing in the 1933 Ice Hockey World Championships in Prague. Circa 1980s Team Canada #32 jersey has “Ballard” nameplate with size 48 flag tag in the neck. Heat screened CCM logo patch is sewn on the right rear tail.
