Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
A charter-member of the Thomas Lockhart-founded EAHL, the Atlantic City Seagulls first incarnation existed in the league from 1933-42, with the club again competing from 1947-52. We have a highly desirable vintage Spalding puck, with these models seeing NHL use throughout the 1930s. Featuring the sharp edges and smooth sides commonplace with antique rubber, both the obverse and reverse sport the Spalding logo, with “Happy Birthday from one hockey victim to another” in white, with a signature from Seagulls’ Sammy Fasano along with “Atlantic Seagulls 3/18/41”. Both logos remain fairly clean with some of the handwriting encroaching one, with a few minor cuts to the sides of the puck along with slightly uneven edges. Fasano would see action in a pair of seasons with the Seagulls, in 1939-40 and 1940-41. A vintage puck box is also included.
The puck box is two-piece in design, with a dark brown paper-wrapped surface, with light to moderate wear and no split corners. Accompanying the Spalding puck, it is possible the box was produced by the noteworthy maker, but no labels are present.
