Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
A great group of vintage Toronto Maple Leafs items are available in this lot, with the focus on 'those games kids play'. We have a 1950s Foster Hewitt table-top hockey game by Reliable with the original shipping box and newsprint advertisement, a 1933-34 Canadian Chewing Gum Leafs hockey board game, a 1931-32 General Motors Leafs puzzle, a 1955-57 Dixon Bob Pulford pencil and a pair of Tim Horton Hockey Talks records, with an Esso example with the original sleeve and Hockey Caravan album along with a generic version that was sold in record stores. Lastly, we also have a Tim Horton Pow-R-Puck mail-in contest coupon and an early-1950s “Speed on Ice” colouring book, very similar to the Esso “Hockey Night in Canada” colouring book offered by the petroleum retailer in 1952-53.
The Canadian Chewing Gum Leafs hockey board game appears to be missing just one game-piece, with the additional pieces, dice and shooter included, with the box in very rough shape. Each of the four side flaps/aprons are almost detached, with the box lid very fragile. The bottom section isn’t much better, with the aprons again very weak and fragile with separations present. The Hewitt game is complete minus the puck and in working order, with expected wear from it’s prior use but no obtrusive damage, with the original box showing nice graphics with moderate wear including some foxing. The Leafs puzzle is complete (currently assembled) with light edge wear to the pieces, with the box exhibiting toning along with moderate wear to the flaps, with a minor water stain across the top section. The Speed on Ice colouring book shows minimal wear and hasn’t been used, with the Horton records and sleeves in excellent condition, with some light creasing to the Hockey Caravan album. Lastly, the Dixon Pulford pencil has some wear to the surface but remains unused.
