Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025
A framed lithograph celebrating the Toronto Maple Leafs 1964 Stanley Cup championship signed by Johnny Bower and series hero Bobby Baun is featured in this lot of items that originate from Baun's personal collection. Historically returning to score the overtime winner in Game 6 on a fractured ankle, Baun along with Bower have signed the 11" x 14" litho in blue ink, and it is double-matted and framed to 18 1/2" x 21 1/2". Next, there is a collection of approx 1,200 "Through the Pain" prints, with text over the reverse describing Baun's heroic moment (8 1/2" x 11"). Finally, there is a pair of vintage crutches, and while they do appear to originate from the circa-1960s, we cannot confirm that these were the exact crutches Baun used during the 1964 Stanley Cup finals. The fact that Baun did keep these all these years as they were obviously important, would definitely lend to the possibility that they are the crutches Baun used after fracturing his ankle in 1964. Spellbinding!! An LOA from the Baun family will accompany.
