Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Packed with Hall of Fame talent and ascending to the top of the hockey world during the early-1960s, the Toronto Maple Leafs would be crowned Stanley Cup champions four times in just six seasons which included a trio of consecutive titles, from 1962 to 1964. This photo has been team-signed by members of the Leafs from the early-1960s, in either 1962-63 or 1963-64. At 8” x 10” and on glossy stock, the image depicts a youthful goaltender, with 22 signing the reverse in mixed inks, including deceased HOFers Horton, Keon, Kelly, Stanley, Mahovlich, Clancy (signed twice), Imlach, Ballard and Foster Hewitt. Placed in two vertical rows, there is nice spacing between most of the signatures, with the majority displaying beautifully including the Horton, which remains dark. Just the Hewitt fountain pen signature exhibits some bleeding. The photo itself sports edge wear and a number of surface indentations, with toning to the reverse.
