Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Finishing the regular season with a record of 32–15–13 to tops the National Hockey League by five (5) points over the Detroit Red Wings, the 1947-48 edition of the Toronto Maple Leafs would knock off both the Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings in the playoffs to claim the franchise's seventh Stanley Cup championship and the second of three straight. Offered here, we present this souvenir mini-stick that has been signed by sixteen (16) members of the 1947-48 Toronto Maple Leafs. A souvenir offering measuring roughly 17" in length from the tip of the blade to the top of the shaft, the stick likely was sold at a stand in Toronto's Maple Leaf Gardens and sports a small black-and-white coloured image of captain Syl Apps affixed to one side of the blade. For the signatures, signed in a mix of black fountain pen ink and pencil lead, with all remaining strong and legible despite their age, those that have signed include HOFers Syl Apps, Turk Broda, Hap Day, Ted Kennedy, Howie Meeker, Max Bentley and Harry Watson while others include Bill Barilko, Sid Smith, Nick Metz, Don Metz, Jim Thomson, Garth Boesch, Joe Klukay, Vic Lynn and Wally Stanowski. Marked at the top of the stick over the end with a small "47/48" in black fountain pen, the stick sports faded ribbon around its shaft and heel area that was once blue in colour. Remaining in overall excellent condition, with a bit of wear seen to the photo of Apps over the blade, don't miss out on this vintage Maple Leafs gem for your all-important collection.
