Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Swedish star Tomas Sandstrom scored the Wales Conference’s first goal in the 1988 NHL All-Star Game in St. Louis, a 6-5 overtime win for the Wales All-Stars. Mario Lemieux and Mats Naslund set up Sandstrom’s first-period goal on their way to record-breaking performances with Naslund recording an All-Star Game record with five assists, including one of each of Super Mario’s three goals in a record-setting six-point performance by Lemieux capped by the Pittsburgh superstar’s overtime winner. From Sandstrom’s personal collection is his 1988 NHL All-Star Game Wales Conference game-worn jersey which comes with a Classic Auctions LOA. The 39th NHL All-Star Game patch is sewn on the left shoulder and “52” is handwritten in blue ballpoint on the Maska flag tag in the neck. Game wear shows in some light black marks and fabric pulls on the front. CCM patch is embroidered on the right rear hem and stars on the sleeves and tails are sewn-on white twill.
