Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
Signing with Florida in 2013 after taking a year off, Tim Thomas would backstop the Panthers in 40 games in 2013-14, and post a respectable 2.87 GAA and .909 Save Percentage. From his personal collection, we offer a photo-matched blocker and glove combo worn by the two-time Vezina Trophy winner in 2013-14 with the Panthers, with the blocker also worn with Team USA at the 2014 IIHF World Championships. The blocker is by CCM, the glove by Warrior, with both models in Panthers colours, with "Thomas" embroidered to each, along with "34" embroidered to the glove (Thomas wore #34 with Florida as a tribute to John Vanbiesbrouck, a fellow goaltender from Michigan he grew up watching). Both pieces show great game use with the face of the blocker and the pocket and wrist guard of the glove covered in puck marks. Photo-matched as a pair worn together with Florida, it should be noted that because these were made by different makers, it is possible that they were worn separately at times while with the Panthers. Getty Image #467415841 (February 06, 2014) is matched to a number of dark marks on the face of the blocker, as well as to the blue paint transfer marks across "WARRIOR" on the left bottom edge, and the two dark marks on the white reverse center panel of the pocket of the glove. For the IIHF World Championships, Getty Image #491956031 (May 18, 2014, preliminary round group B USA vs Finland at the IIHF International Ice Hockey World Championship) has been matched to a number of dark marks on the face of the blocker. We should also note that images show Thomas wearing the blocker in every single game of the tournament with Team USA except for the Quarterfinals vs Czechs - and we assume he wore it there also, but no images from the game are available. A signed LOA from Thomas will accompany.
