Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
After parts of 8 successful seasons in Boston with the Bruins, netminder Tim Thomas took a year off before signing a try-out contract with Florida on Sept 16, 2013. Seeing action in 40 contests with the Panthers in 2013-14, Thomas was acquired by Dallas on March 5, 2014, and played his final 9 NHL games (8 regular season and 1 playoffs) that season with the Texans. From his personal collection, we offer goalie mask worn with the Stars. Produced by maker Tony Priolo of Sportsmask, the solid white mask has "30" over the forehead and backplate, with Stars decals over each side. The current Bauer cage is a replacement added to the mask for display purposes, that doesn't originate from Thomas' collection. Additionally, the buttons to attach the chin strap to the mask are missing. "Tim Thomas Dallas Stars 2014" is handwritten inside the mask. Research shows that this mask was only worn by Thomas in the March 20, 2014 match vs Philadelphia including during both the warm-up and partial game, with his black mask also worn for a portion of that game. We should also note that it is possible that the mask was also worn in practices or when serving as back-up. Just a few small edge chips and marks are visible. Getty Image #480357939 (March 20, 2014) shows the proper placement of the "30" on the forehead as well as the Dallas Stars team logo on the left ear side (not enough to call a photo-match though). A Stars carry/storage bag is included, along with a signed LOA from Thomas.
