Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/31/2022
The franchise’s 23rd season of existence, the Detroit Red Wings concluded the 1948-49 NHL campaign in first place, topping the second-place Boston Bruins by nine points. Ted Lindsay and Sid Abel would tie for club-leading points, with the Motor City squad advancing to the Stanley Cup finals. Originating from Ted Lindsay’s personal collection, we have a mini stick team-signed by the 1948-49 NHL Champion Detroit Red Wings, including 7 deceased HOFers! At 16” in length including the blade, the mini one-piece stick sports 17 ink signatures applied to one side including Lindsay, as well as fellow deceased HOFers Howe, Abel, Kelly, Lumley, Stewart and Bill Quakenbush, along with Poile, McFadden, Horeck, Couture, Pavelich, Gee, Sclisizzi, Reise, Lundy and Lee Fogolin Sr. The signatures remain bold and dark and exhibit some minor bleeding into the material, with a layer of shellac added to the stick. An LOA from the Lindsay family will accompany.
